Development
Ideation
This project involved two rounds of ideation and refinement. The features explored included a modular system to transport and protect beer containers of multiple sizes, how to keep the beer cool during transportation, and optimal laptop storage.
Final Concept
The final design concept took cues from all three of the initial concepts: the design and cooling solution of the first, the rear access and modularity of the second, and the expanding storage and top zipper access of the third.
Prototype
I created a pattern and built an initial prototype based on the final concept, with which I was able to identify a number of points that could be improved upon, both in functionality and in construction. After my testing I sent the prototype to the client for additional testing and feedback.
Specs and Patterns
Using feedback from the client and my testing notes, I updated the design to address the issues we discovered. I then updated the bag patten and created a spec package for manufacturing.
Final Product
The final design features a redesigned front storage, a larger roll top, more ergonomic straps, thinner and stiffer dividers, and a new laptop pocket that could double as an ice pack holder.
